Following the massive success of the Netflix series Quarterback featuring behind-the-scenes clips of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota from the 2022 regular season, the popular streaming service is coming up with another series focusing on football. The new series will focus on the 2000s era of the Florida Gators team, which dominated college football under the leadership of Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer.
The much-anticipated show “Untold: Swamp Kings” is set to premiere on August 23 on Netflix. And now, the streaming service dropped a new minute-long trailer featuring clips from the 4-part documentary series. Check out the trailer attached below.
The Netflix docuseries will feature game clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and player interviews. Tim Tebow, the quarterback of that dominant Gators squad, will appear on the series along with some other stars Brandon Spikes, Chris Rainey, Major Wright, and Brandon Siler. However, the series director Katharine English recently revealed that some big-name stars like Percy Harvin and Maurkice Pouncey refused to appear on the show since their team has already endured a lot of criticism from the press.
More than a decade before Urban Meyer’s disastrous tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Meyer served as the head coach of the Gators football team. During his era, the Gators were the center of attention as there was no shortage of success and controversies.
Meyer took over the head coach gig at Florida in 2005 and led them to a National Championship victory in 2006. They won one more championship under Meyer in 2008. Furthermore, Meyer had a 65-15 record with the Gators over six seasons.
Apart from victories, the Meyers era was also known for constant controversies. Approximately 30 players were arrested during Meyer’s tenure in Florida, but some arrested players never faced punishment.
Swamp Kings has created a buzz among football fans

Nearly two decades after the legendary Florida Gators run from 2006-2009, Netflix has come up with a documentary series named Swamp Kings. The production for the series spanned over 18 months and features some never seen clips.
After a successful college career, where he won 2 national championships and a Heisman with the Florida Gators, Tim Tebow ended up getting drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. But his success did not translate to the next level, as he failed to solidify himself as a franchise QB in the NFL. On the other hand, the Gators’ head coach Urban Meyer also failed to taste success on the big stage.
Meyer had a disastrous one-year stint as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. Meyer led the Jaguars to an abysmal 2-11 and was fired by the Jacksonville-based franchise after just 13 weeks.
Meyer’s off-field issues also contributed to his firing. He reportedly had fights with multiple players and assistant coaches, including wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. Nonetheless, college football fans are excited to revisit the legendary Gators run from 2006-2009.
