Ever since Taylor Swift started to attend the Kansas City Chiefs games to support her alleged boyfriend Travis Kelce, the ‘Blank Space’ singer has been the talk of the football world. While some people are enjoying the Swift-Kelce content in the NFL, others are already fed up with the league pondering Swifties. Even the All-Pro tight end Kelce believes the league needs to calm down with Swift’s coverage in the games.

During a recent episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the Philadelphia Eagles center asked Travis whether the league was overdoing it with Kelce-Swift’s ‘Love Story.’

“I think it’s fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time I think they’re overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation. [But] I think they’re just trying to have fun with it,” said Travis Kelce.

Swift has now attended two Chiefs games in a row and even got to witness Kelce catch a touchdown pass during Kansas City’s Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears. Nonetheless, both games, which Swift attended, have brought in huge numbers and have seen a huge increase in young women’s viewership, undoubtedly due to the presence of the Anti-Hero herself.

The National Football League is obviously excited about the new set of fans Swift is bringing in with her presence in the game and wants to pander to Swifties to keep them watching. So, they keep covering Swift most of the game, which has received negative reactions from hardcore fans who just want to enjoy a game of football.

NFL defends Taylor Swift coverage amidst criticism from Travis Kelce

Recently, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce claimed that the NFL is overdoing Taylor Swift coverage amidst heavy criticism from football fans around the nation. But now, the league has defended its actions in a statement.

In a statement obtained by ESPN, the league claims that the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce “news” has been a massive pop cultural moment and an intersection of sports and entertainment on a massive scale, thus justifying their coverage of the pop singer despite criticism.

So, the league has made its stance and will likely continue to “overdo” the Swift coverage if she keeps attending the Chiefs game. The Kanas City-based football team will travel to Minneapolis this week to take on the struggling Minnesota Vikings in their week 5 matchup. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Swift will attend the game or not.
