The Kansas City Chiefs had a stunning victory against the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Playoff round. It was a thrilling encounter as the Bills had every chance to win the game, however, a missed field goal shattered the dream. The Chiefs prevailed in the AFC Championship game. ‘
The game was filled with a lot of interesting moments. One such moment was when Travis Kelce and Mecole Hardman had a little confusion and Kelce blocked on a play. Hardman had a fumble.
Kelce later addressed the issue and sought an apology from the player. In one of the episodes of his podcast New Heights, the tight end said that he owed a new car to the player for the mistake he made.
Travis Kelce said:
I’m not gonna lie, man. I owe Mecole a f*cking new car or something. I owe so much to him. My block was the one that knocked the ball out. And I’ve been f*cking sick. I told him I apologized to him every time I saw him and would apologize again. My bad, Mecole, man.Travis Kelce on New Heights
He did not stop there. He praised his teammate for his continuous endeavors to get the ball. Explaining what exactly happened between them, Kelce added:
Yeah, my guy was just trying to be great and get the ball in the end zone, and I’m thinking it’s a type (of) speed. We’re outside of the guy, (he) goes inside. … And he just finished the play better than I did and got a hand on the ball. And man, I owe my guy big time, man.Travis Kelce added
The mistake did not cost them much as the Chiefs had a marginal victory.
Travis Kelce can break the record of Jerry Rice
Travis Kelce has the opportunity to become the leading reception holder in the NFL postseason. He is presently standing at 145 catches. He is six catches away from equalling with Jerry Rice who is presently standing at 151 catches. If Kelce grabs seven receptions in the next game, he will break Rice’s record.
Throughout the season, Kelce has made a lot of headlines. His relationship with pop singer Taylor Swift has always been a subject of discussion. This time, the TE has an opportunity to grab the headlines with a historical moment on the field.
It is to be seen whether Kelce does that in the very next game or if he needs to wait for another season, before writing his name in the history books.
