“Let’s settle this once and for all,” Geno Smith claps back at Travis Kelce over their ‘revenge game’
Travis Kelce has a long and painful history with the Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith, read here to know why?
Travis Kelce is hungry to get his first W against Geno Smith.
This week’s Saturday Night Matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs is more than just another game for Travis Kelce. The Pro Bowl tight end has a lot of history with the quarterback for the Seahawks, Geno Smith. Kelce spoke about how he and Smith go way back to college and what sparked off the supposed rivalry between them.
In the latest iteration of the Kelce brothers podcast, New Heights featuring Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, the elder brother attempts to urge Travis and incite him to confess that the Chiefs-Seahawks matchup is personal for him. Travis elaborates on the whole situation.
Take a look at what Jason Kelce had to say in order to get Travis juiced up for this game, “A man who took his scholarship from West Virginia, a man who the Jets drafted ahead of you. Are you going to get a win? Is Travis Kelce ever going to beat Geno?”
To provide some context, Kelce was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2013 NFL Draft, while Geno Smith was picked up in the 2nd round of the 2013 draft. The Jets at the time had Rex Ryan as the Head Coach. The team was considering drafting Travis Kelce but they were also interested in Geno Smith. However, they picked up Geno over Kelce.

Travis Kelce has never won against Geno Smith in his professional career:
This was not the first time that Geno Smith had gotten an advantage over Travis Kelce, the QB beat the tight end when he attempted to apply at the University of West Virginia to get a scholarship. Geno was selected over Kelce and the tight end had to enroll at the University of Cincinnati instead.
It is also notable that Travis Kelce has not won a game against Geno Smith in the NFL, the QB may be his kryptonite after all. Take a look at what Travis had to say, “There’s no way, Geno probably doesn’t even know who I am. F**k, you (Jason Kelce) are juicing it up man, I got to get a dub against this guy.”
You do indeed Travis, it’s about time you got your share of revenge against Geno. Kelce admitted that in his mind, he does not view this as a rivalry of any sort or harbor any ill will towards the quarterback. Geno Smith responded to this clip and jokingly tweeted “I might have to line up at safety so we can settle this once and for all.”
Clearly, it is just friendly banter between the two but Travis does appear to be hungry and eager to record a win. The Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Seattle Seahawks tonight at Arrowhead Stadium.
