Dating Taylor Swift always comes with increased media attention, and Travis Kelce is finding that out despite being a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs. The All-Pro tight end recently became the subject of controversy regarding some old deleted tweets.
Kelce, who recently flew around the world with Beau Swift, is busy filming for his ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. Yet perhaps he wasn’t expecting to trend for a different reason.
More than a decade-old tweet from the 34-year-old resurfaced on social media on Sunday, which raised a few eyebrows because it was related to Jesus Christ. The timing of it is definitely a key factor because it’s Easter.
Happy Easter to all!!! #shoutout to Jesus for taking one for the team.
Travis Kelce clarified on his deleted old tweets
This wasn’t the only time these exact tweets were reshared on social media. Previously, when it happened, Travis Kelce called the viral tweets ‘nonsense.’
On an episode of ‘New Heights‘, Kelce, who was playing for the Cincinnati Bearcats in college football in 2010, revealed that he was using Twitter as a diary rather than a means of communication with others. He wasn’t famous back then like he is now.
What’s hilarious is that nobody followed me back then. I was just using Twitter as a diary. I’m just out here, just saying nonsense. ‘I just gave a squirrel a piece of bread’ and spelled [squirrel]. This is why I don’t tweet anymore, because it’s just nonsense.
Travis Kelce said
Meanwhile, Jason Kelce recently revealed that his younger brother has put on some weight after his vacation photos in the Bahamas with Swift broke the internet. Travis claimed that he now weighs the same as Jason because of chugging down a few extra kegs.
The recently retired Kelce disagreed. After all, he is around 280 pounds because he played as a center. If Travis had put on the same amount of body weight, then it would have become a hindrance during the OTAs.
Travis Kelce is looking to complete an unprecedented three-peat with the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, he played all but one game, registering 93 receptions for 984 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He kept up the good work in the playoffs, notching 32 catches (an NFL record for a tight end) for 355 yards and three touchdowns.
