The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is currently regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. His athleticism and elite pass-catching skills are admired by many fans around the league. But it seems like the talented athlete’s skills are limited to playing tight end since his ceremonial pitch at an MLB game went comically wrong.
The 2-time Super Bowl Champion threw the ceremonial pitch at the MLB game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Seattle Mariners at Progressive Field on Friday. Kelce was born in Westlake, Ohio, and was raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
The MLB fans have seen plenty of awful ceremonial pitches, including infamous horrible throws by the Rapper 50 Cent and the Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen. But those were celebrities and not athletes.
When a highly talented athlete like Travis Kelce stepped onto the mound, the fans expected some heat in the throw. But instead, the 4-time All-Pro tight end bounced the ball on the grass instead of landing it in the gloves of the Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber. An embarrassed Kelce immediately ran to the home plate and hugged Bieber, who was waiting there to catch the ball. Both of them had a good laugh about it, and so were the baseball fans in attendance.
Social media clowns the Chiefs TE Travis Kelce

After his horrible first pitch at the Guardians-Mariners game went hilariously wrong, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was clowned by the NFL and MLB fans on social media.
Kelce was a three-sport athlete in his high school days. He played football, basketball, and baseball during his days at Cleveland Heights high school. In fact, Kelce has played in multiple celebrity home run derbies over the years and has shown what he can do with a baseball bat in his hand.
But he was not able to impress anyone with the baseball in his hand. Even the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes joined in the clowning of the 8-time Pro Bowl TE on Twitter. “Ayyyyyy bruhhhhhhhhh,” tweeted Mahomes with several crying laughing emojis. In addition, Mahomes also asked the Kansas City Royals to give Kelce a shot at redemption. “Ayyy @Royals lets give him another chance. ASAP!!!” Mahomes wrote in a tweet.
If there’s any NFL player that knows a thing or two about pitching, it’s Patrick Mahomes. His father, Pat Mahomes, played for 11 years in the big league. Besides, the Chiefs QB himself used to be a pitcher during his days at Texas Tech. Patrick was, in fact, drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 2014 MLB Draft, but he decided to pursue a career in football instead. Well, the Chiefs Kingdom will be grateful for that decision.
