The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough practice earlier yesterday. The tight end for the team, Travis Kelce got into an altercation with the team’s backup linebacker Jack Cochrane as he swung at him with a left-handed punch. This marks the second straight day that the tight end has gotten into a fight with one of his teammates, a day prior, Kelce had shoved the team’s cornerback DiCaprio Bootle.

Travis Kelce caught a pass from Patrick Mahomes at the end zone and after he finished the play, Cochrane appeared to grab him in an attempt to knock the ball out of his hands. This irked Travis Kelce who wasted no time in throwing a left-handed punch. After this Cochrane hit back and pushed Kelce; it was at this point that the rest of their teammates began to jump in to separate them from one another and avoid any further altercation.

Kansas City Chiefs‘ head Coach Andy Reid was not happy with this incident either. He condemned it after practice by stating, “Fighting is a waste of time. You get thrown out of games doing it, you get hurt out here doing it. But they’re going to jaw. It’s hot, humid. They’re going to jaw a little bit. Just as long as there are not punches thrown, we’re all right.”

This is not the first time that Travis Kelce has not been able to hold back in the middle of games. He has been called over by the referees for unsportsmanlike conduct on numerous occasions in his professional career. While it is understandable that his anger arises out of his passion for the game and his desire to win, it is not a good look when he is swinging at his own teammates.

Travis tweeted out somewhat of an apology where he held himself accountable for his actions.

While he did not apologize for hitting his teammates, he did accept that he needs to get better and improve as a leader and a teammate. While the scuffle with Jack Cochrane was over within seconds, it does leave a bad impression on his teammates who step out onto the field alongside him.

Travis Kelce looked frustrated after the grab from Jack because he had already caught the ball at the endzone by the time the cornerback had even gotten to him, so there was essentially nothing that Cochrane could do to have stopped the play and the fact that he attempted to grab onto Kelce after the tight end had comfortably caught the ball, that did not stick well with Travis and as a result, he ended up getting violent. It appears that Travis Kelce has been watching a bit too much of WWE this offseason, as he needs to start showing some restraint on the field atleast towards his own teammates.
