The defending Super Bowl Champions, Kansas City Chiefs won the 2023 ESPY Award for the best team because of their championship victory. On behalf of the Chiefs, QB Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive lineman Chris Jones took the stage to accept the award.

After accepting the award, Travis Kelce savagely pushed away the 2022 Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes from the mic and made the audience laugh with a witty comment. “Nah, man. You already took one mic from me, baby, ain’t gonna take another. I got something to say,” said Kelce referring to the time Mahomes cut off Kelce during the White House event.

Back in June, United States President Joe Biden honored the Super Bowl Champions Chiefs at a White House event. During the event, the Chiefs’ All-Pro tight end Kelce saw an open mic and pounced on it. However, Patrick Mahomes quickly cut off Kelce and took him away from the mic.  “So I’ve been waiting for this,” Kelce started his speech but wasn’t able to finish his thought. Mahomes shut down Kelce and ushered him away while apologizing to the media.

Apart from the Chiefs winning an award, QB Patrick Mahomes also took home hardware as he won ESPY Award for the best male athlete beating out the likes of Lionel Messi and Aaron Judge.

Mahomes had a remarkable campaign in 2022 as he won the league MVP award, a championship ring, and a Super Bowl MVP award. It seems like Mahomes can’t stop winning at the moment.

The Chiefs’ franchise QB Patrick Mahomes is at the peak stage of his career. The 27-year-old signal-caller had a historical season last year and led the Kansas City-based football team to a Super Bowl victory.

In the 2022 season, Mahomes registered 5250 passing yards and 41 passing touchdowns, both league-high. As a result, Mahomes received a Pro Bowl nod, a first-team All-Pro recognition, and won the second league MVP in his career so far.

Despite playing the entire 2022 postseason with an ankle injury, Mahomes was still able to lead his team to a remarkable victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in the title game.

He is now looking to lead his team to a back-to-back Super Bowl victory in the upcoming season. The Chiefs would have a tougher challenge in 2023 as teams have gotten a lot better in the off-season. But as long as Mahomes is healthy, the Chiefs certainly have a shot at defending their crown.
