The Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones has done a remarkable job in the off-season, adding veteran players to their already stacked roster. Furthermore, he also recently signed the star cornerback Trevon Diggs to a massive 5-year contract extension on Tuesday. After signing the contract with the Cowboys, Diggs advocated for the inclusion of his franchise QB, Dak Prescott, in season 2 of the Netflix show Quarterback.

Netflix recently announced that they would be renewing their hit show ‘Quarterback’ for another season. They approached the Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields about featuring in the season, but the third-year QB reportedly rejected the opportunity. Amidst this situation, Diggs quote tweeted and wrote “DAK” on a post asking for suggestions about which signal caller should be featured in season 2.

The first season of the show, which featured Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, was a massive hit which resulted in the streaming platform renewing the show for another season. Diggs wants them to include his QB Dak Prescott on the show.

The Cowboys CB, who was entering the final year of his rookie deal, inked a 5-year $97 extension with the Dallas-based football team. That deal makes Diggs the fifth highest-paid cornerback in terms of Average Annual Value ($19.4 million). Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers is the highest-paid cornerback with an AAV of $21 million.

Diggs is guaranteed $42.3 million and will receive a signing bonus of $21.25 million per multiple reports. Besides, the 2-time Pro Bowl CB could earn up to $104 million max from his contract if he hits the incentives.

Trevon Diggs was drafted by the Cowboys in the 2nd round (51st overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, the Ballhawk has been a massive asset for the Dallas-based franchise. Diggs started 11 games in his rookie season and registered 3 interceptions but in the second the 6’1″ cornerback exploded and registered a league-high 11 ints and turned 2 of them into house calls.

In his three seasons with the Cowboys so far, the 24-year-old cornerback has registered 17 picks and 169 total tackles. He has received 2 Pro Bowl nods and 1 first-team All-Pro recognition.

And now, he will get better in his position with guidance from the veteran CB Stephon Gilmore, who the Cowboys acquired in the off-season. If Diggs reaches his full potential, he could help the Cowboys to make a deep postseason run in the upcoming season.
