Looks like the good old days of Jacksonville Jaguars are back, as, after a decade of waiting, the team is going to have their old spot on Monday night back. They last played on this day in 2011, and now on the coming Monday night, they are set to host the Cincinnati Bengals.
Breaking the long spell, the Jaguars have come a long way in 2022. Last season, with a five-game winning streak right at the end of the regular season, they became the AFC South Champions. Reaching the playoffs next, they defeated the Los Angeles Chargers and claimed their profile for the 2023 campaign.
Fast forwarding to this season, the Jaguars are one of the only four teams to have only three losses in their name in the AFC. With that, the team has joined the race to claim the top seed in the conference, now that December has approached. And that’s the only thing that Trevor Lawrence-led Jaguars have in mind while playing on the field.
As the Jaguars prepare to face off against the Bengals, quarterback Trevor Lawrence asserted via the team’s website, “If you want to talk about the No. 1 seed, we’ve put ourselves in a situation where that’s attainable. We’re right there in the mix. We’re not oblivious to that fact. We’re taking it one game at a time and you have to win one game at a time to get there. But we understand that that’s a real, that’s something that’s reachable for us and that we can do.”
Trevor Lawrence believes the Jaguars still have time to lead the race for the AFC top seed. They are taking one step at a time, as they are focusing on the present moment:
We understand what we can accomplish and what we can do. Being in the moment is really big.
What’s the possibility for the Jaguars to secure a No. 1 seed in the AFC?
Although it’s still early to build the speculation around the specific scenarios for the Jaguars to secure the No. 1 AFC seed. The first step in, any way, for them, would be securing a victory over the Bengals, standing at 6-5 in the AFC North. Interestingly, it wouldn’t be that tough for the Jaguars if they keep going with the pace they have been in the last eight wins. However, there’s a possibility that the Bengals would strike back, which makes it a crucial win for the Jaguars.
The Monday night game would be more of an opportunity for Jacksonville to continue their winning streak, leading to securing a position in the AFC. Throughout this season, the Jaguars have shown great determination and hard work, which will surely pay off well.
Since their last Monday Night football game in 2011, the Jaguars have improved a lot. And to raise their profile even higher than last season, the team is doing everything possible to the best of their potential.
