The Jacksonville Jaguars had a dramatic end of their season as the team got eliminated after their surprising loss against the Tennessee Titans by 28-20. The team had a grand start with eight wins and three losses, and almost everyone thought they would easily make it to the playoffs.
However, man proposes and god disposes. The Jaguars lost five of their last six games and ended up second in the AFC South. Their lack of consistency was the key to their elimination from the playoffs.
The blame behind their loss in a must-win game against the Titans resides on the shoulder of the Titans quarterback Trevor Lawrence who threw two interceptions against the opponent of week 18. Lawrence covered 280 passing yards with two touchdowns, however, his two interceptions were pivotal in shaping the game’s fortune.
This season, Lawrence had some on and off-field struggles. The quarterback was subjected to an injury and missed the last game against the Carolina Panthers. He wanted to make his return remarkable against the Titans but failed to make it as he was subjected to a loss. After the game, the quarterback said,
I feel like I didn't do everything that I could have done today to help us win and didn't feel like I played my best--So it hurts, but at the end of the day, that's what you put on the field.
The quarterback also had multiple other struggles. He suffered from an ankle injury, knee injury, and shoulder injury as well. With all three injuries, the Jags signalcaller had a tough time.
Fans blamed Trevor Lawrence on social media for Jaguars missing out on playoffs
The elimination has left everyone in shock. Players and the head coach were seen blaming themselves. They did not hide their agony publicly.
Cornerback Josh Allen said that the team was eagerly waiting for a spark throughout the season and that spark never showed up. Allen said,
I feel like last year we had a spark and we lit [it] and we just followed that and rode that wave. And then this year we were looking forward too much hoping that it was going to come and it never came.
Nonetheless, the fans did not seem that much analytical. They blamed Lawrence on social media. Check out some of the comments that the fans made post the last game of Jaguars’ regular season.
HC Doug Peterson also expressed his disgust over the loss against the Titans. He was angry over the nature of circumstances from the game.
