The Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars was a fun game. It was decided in overtime with the Bengals pulling off a 34-31 win. However, the game was also marred by an apparent ankle injury to Jaguars’ star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He limped off the field after the injury and did not return to finish the game.
Lawrence suffered the injury during the fourth quarter, with 5:25 remaining in the game. The score was tied 28-28 at the time of the injury. The franchise QB was visibly upset after the injury and was seen slamming his helmet on the ground in frustration. He had 258 yards and a couple of touchdowns before the injury. C.J. Beathard replaced Lawrence on the field but failed to lead the Jags to victory.
According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Lawrence sprained his ankle and was scheduled to undergo additional testing by Tuesday. The signal-caller was reportedly “in good spirits” after the game and was seen talking to his teammates in the locker room after the game. It is still unclear how much time Lawrence will miss due to the injury. He was seen using crutches. The Jaguars got some positive news as Mike Garafolo reported that Lawrence’s injury “isn’t bad,” however, the official confirmation is yet to come.
Lawrence led his team to the playoffs last year and won the Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Chargers in epic fashion. The Jaguars came back from a 27-point deficit to win the game. This season, the Jags have a record of 8-4 and are in contention for a playoff spot again. However, all that depends on the health of their franchise QB.
Doug Pederson spoke about Trevor Lawrence’s injury after the game against the Bengals
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ playoff hopes took a massive hit on Monday as their star QB limped off the field with an ankle injury during their Monday Night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Trevor Lawrence was having a phenomenal game prior to the injury but went down in the fourth quarter due to the injury. Jags’ HC Doug Pederson talked about the injury after the game.
Pederson told the reporters:
I don't have any information yet on Trevor. We're still evaluating him. We'll probably have a better update for you tomorrow on that.
Lawrence finished the game with 258 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He completed 75.9 percent of his passes.
The Jaguars slipped to 8-4 and are now one game behind the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins in a tight AFC. Their next game is against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and they will desperately hope that Lawrence’s injury isn’t severe.
