Carson Wentz and Troy Aikman

Carson James Wentz is a well-known entity in the world of the NFL. The talented quarterback played college football at North Dakota State and registered pretty impressive numbers. In fact, he ended up winning five NCAA FCS national championships during his stint.

As expected, he was roped in by the Philadelphia Eagles back in the 2016 NFL Draft. After staying with them till 2020, the 6 feet 5 inches tall QB was roped in by the Indianapolis Colts in the previous season. However, it would be fair to say that he had a rather dull season for the Indianapolis-based franchise.

In the 17 games last season, Wentz led the Colts to a 9-8 record. He threw for 3563 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. Those aren’t very great numbers. As it turns out, Wentz has gone back to the NFC East where he’ll now play for the Washington Commanders.

Talking about Wentz’s future in the league, Troy Aikman recently made a few points. He told ESPN that the coming season is a make-or-break for Carson. “Carson had an opportunity; it didn’t end well in Philadelphia, of course. He then got traded to Indianapolis. Didn’t go great for him there,” he claimed.

They decided to make another change at that position, and now he’s landed in Washington. This is probably his last opportunity, just being blunt about it, to prove that he can be a franchise quarterback in the NFL. This is kind of a defining season, I think, for Carson Wentz and what his future is going to look like,Aikman further added.

When Wentz first burst onto the big stage, everyone had a lot of expectations from him. However, he hasn’t been able to do justice to his talent thus far. It would be interesting to see if he can end up changing his and the Commanders’ fortunes in the coming season.
