The NFL is a violent sport. It literally has grown men running into each other and laying them flat on the ground. Injuries, therefore are a common occurrence. While it is customary for a QB to get minor scratches or cuts on a weekly basis as a result of contact from defensive players, Tua Tagovailoa, the QB for the Miami Dolphins suffered one of the nastiest cuts during Dolphins’ Black Friday game against the Jets.

The quarterback suffered a gash on his right bicep. The injury was so gruesome and deep that the QB’s muscle fibers were exposed. It is unclear when this injury occurred or the reason that caused it. It is likely to have happened in the first quarter of the game and even though it looked really painful, Tagovailoa ensured he did not miss a single snap.

While the wound will heal and his skin will grow back, this injury is likely to have an impact on his arm sleeve. The quarterback had gotten inked in the offseason and this wound sits right in the middle of the tattoo. He will now have to wait until the wound heals before he can get the tattoo retouched.

The cut looked deep, and it was pretty impressive that the quarterback continued to play the game by using an arm wrap. Here’s how fans reacted to his wound:

Tua Tagovailoa ended the game with 243 passing yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs in the team’s 34-13 victory against the New York Jets. Miami improved to 8-3 record on the season following the victory. They will head to Washington next week to face the Commanders.
