“Super childish, immature behavior” – NFL Twitter BLASTS Patrick Mahomes for playing ‘hero ball’ and risking an injury that could sideline him during their Super Bowl run

The Kansas City Chiefs led by Andy Reid defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on their divisional round matchup and moved on to the third round of the NFL postseason. However, it’s not all good news for the Chiefs fans as their star player Patrick Mahomes suffered a severe ankle injury during the game that could potentially sideline him for weeks during their Super Bowl run.
The injury happened during the final minutes of the first quarter, the Chiefs QB was wrapped up during a sack by the Jaguars‘ defensive tackle Corey Peters and linebacker Arden Key. Mahomes’ knee bent in an awkward way, which was not a pleasant sight for anyone watching the game. However, the star QB managed to stay in the game and even completed a pass on one leg, which eventually led to the end of the first quarter.
Between the quarters, Mahomes was tapped heavily on his ankles and then was sent back into the game. The All-Pro QB stayed in the game and finished the drive that ended in a field goal by their kicker Harrison Butker. After the drive, when the Jaguars took over for their offensive possession, Mahomes was sent into the locker room for further evaluation of his injury after a heated sideline conversation between him and his HC Reid.
And after all this, the QB’s decision was first listed as a questionable return by the Chiefs, and yet he returned to the game moments later, risking a more severe injury that could sideline him for weeks.
Social media blasts Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
Social media was not happy with Mahomes ‘childish’ decision to come back and play through visible pain after suffering an ankle injury during their playoff game against the AFC South champions Jaguars.
Mahomes returned to the game after getting his ankles taped but it was obvious he was not at 100% since he was seen limping due to him not being able to put pressure on his injured foot.
NFL insider reported that the X-rays came back negative but Mahomes could’ve suffered a high ankle sprain. “X-Rays were negative, source said. That’s the good news. But it does appear to be a high-ankle sprain for Patrick Mahomes,” tweeted Ian Rapoport.
The Chiefs ended up winning the game 27-20, but the severity of the Mahomes injury will play a huge part in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run. Since it will be tough for the Kansas based-franchise to beat the likes of the Bills and the Bengals in a playoff game without their MVP-caliber quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
