“Move to a different country,” Twitter BRUTALLY trolls LeBron James for supporting Deshaun Watson’s Browns ahead of the Dallas Cowboys
Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James brought his brutally honest mode while speaking about the NFL and his loyalties toward a particular franchise. The veteran NBA star made a big statement as he claimed to have shifted allegiances in the recent past.
In 2017, after Colin Kaepernick started the trend of kneeling on the pitch during the national anthem, other players also wanted to join in. However, the dictum from the Dallas Cowboys‘ hierarchy was that players were not allowed to kneel during the US national anthem, as they felt it would be disrespectful to the country’s flag.
This did not sit down well with other players, and the trend garnered more interest over the years, especially after the police brutality incident in 2020, which led to the horrendous killing of George Floyd. LeBron James claimed this ban from the Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, especially has made him switch NFL teams and he now supports the Cleveland Browns.
LeBron James is a fan of the Cleveland Browns
LeBron said, “Nah man, I have to sit out on the (Dallas) Cowboys. It’s just a lot of things that was going on during, you know – when guys were kneeling. A lot of people in their front office and a lot of people that ran the organization was like, ‘If you do that around here, then you’ll never play for this franchise ever again.“
This statement from the 4x NBA MVP was even more baffling for the fans, after the recent choices made by the Cleveland Browns regarding their quarterback, Deshaun Watson. The 27-year-old was traded in from the Houston Texans despite having a total of 25 sexual harassment cases against his name.
Watson was found guilty of the allegations and is now serving a 11-match ban along with a $5 million fine. The Browns have wholly supported the quarterback even after these allegations, soaking in criticism from the public.
Twitter Reactions to LeBron James’ controversial choice
Surely, LeBron James has his reasons, but the Browns are not much a better choice than the Cowboys when it comes to choosing them on his morals. Presently, the Cowboys are sitting pretty on the third spot in the NFC East division with a 5-2 record while the Browns have a diametrically opposite record of 2-5 and are yet third in the AFC North.
