On Sunday, Jalen Hurts had one of the worst performances of his career as he threw multiple interceptions in the Philadelphia Eagles‘ week 6 game against the New York Jets. As a result, the Eagles suffered their first loss of the ongoing season and fell to a 5-1 record. And now, the Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman has made a move to add an offensive weapon to his squad as he signed the veteran wide receiver Julio Jones.

According to ESPN, the Eagles signed the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Julio Jones to a one-year deal on Tuesday. Jones will now reunite with his former Tennessee Titans teammate A.J. Brown. Furthermore, Julio would probably now play as the WR #3 for the Philadelphia-based football team behind Brown and DeVonta Smith.

This shocking move comes just a few days after the Eagles placed WR Quez Watkins on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. They tried out several different pass catchers on Monday, including Marquez Callaway. In the end, they turned towards the 7-time Pro Bowl receiver Julio Jones, who will be joining his fourth team in the last four years.

Jones is a Falcons legend and currently holds the record for the most receiving yards in the history of the Atlanta Falcons with 12,896 yards. The free-agent receiver spent his 2022 season with the Buccaneers, where he caught 24 passes for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 10 games he played. Now he looks to revive his career in Philadelphia.

NFL fans on social media weren’t that excited about Julio signing with the Eagles since many believe the 34-year-old wideout is way past his prime and is not a threat anymore to the opposing defenses. The last time Jones registered a 1000-plus receiving yards season was back in 2019 when he was still playing for the Titans.
