Zac Stacy, who played as a running back for the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams in the NFL for three years, has been sentenced to six-year in prison over a domestic violence case from two years ago.
According to reports, Stacy was arrested in 2021 after his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son Kristin Evans showed the cops the security camera footage of the former NFL running back viciously attacking her at her home in Central Florida. The video showed the 31-year-old Zac Stacy punching Evans multiple times before throwing her into the television set, all in front of their infant son.
Stacy, who was caught red-handed in the video attacking his ex-girlfriend, entered a plea deal on domestic violence charges earlier this month. Furthermore, Evans asked the court to only sentence probation for her attacker, since she thought jail wouldn’t help his situation. However, the state asked for a one-year jail time. And then, the judge sentenced Stacy to serve six months in jail, and 2 years in probation and counseling.
During the hearing, both sides had to watch the incident as it happened again and again. The victim Kristin Evans had to describe what happened and how she was hurt by the attack.
Social media rips Zac Stacy for brutally attacking his girlfriend
Furthermore, Stacy got a chance to apologize to his ex-girlfriend Kristin Evans in court after the judge allowed him to address her directly. “Chris. I’m very sorry for my actions. I’m very sorry for what happened, and how I hurt you,” he said. “I just wasn’t mentally or emotionally healthy, and there is absolutely no justification for what I did, no excuses for my actions toward you. I never meant to hurt you, and even with the progression we made towards co-parenting, I hope deep down you can forgive me for what I’ve caused and done to you,” said Zac Stacy according to reports.
Nevertheless, the disturbing video of Zac Stacy attacking the mother of his son went viral on social media after he was sentenced to serve six years in prison. Many people on social media were disgusted by the actions of the former NY Jets running back.
Zac Stacy was drafted by the St. Louis Rams (now known as Los Angeles Rams) in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent only two years with the Rams rushing for 1266 yards in those two seasons. After that, he was traded to the New York Jets, where he survived for one season before he was waived by the Jets for failing physicals. Moreover, Stacy announced his retirement in 2017 to take care of his brother who has down syndrome.
