Titans OC coach Todd Downing recently got involved in a massive controversy that inspired a stern warning from the NFL regarding the use of alcohol during match days.

Downing was arrested for DUI in Nashville at 2:30 am. It is speculated that the Titans OC got drunk on the flight back home and deliberately broke the rule of not drinking during match days by the NFL.

The NFL came out with a statement issuing a warning for all the other teams issuing ‘significant discipline’ for those who break this rule. However, this was the only action that the league took against the OC as he was cleared to coach the team without any suspension or repercussions.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel said Tuesday that the team will move forward with Downing as their offensive coordinator. Although Vrabel added that the OC’s status could change if the NFL decides to take action.

This lukewarm reaction from the league enraged the fans and numerous analysts. Even Fox analyst and former LB, Emmanuel Acho was disappointed with this decision and tweeted about it.

“The NFL witnessed a coach’s drunk driving leave a 5 year old girl with traumatic brain injuries less than 2 years ago. Both Vrabel and the NFL need to take more aggressive action.” Acho’s tweet read.

With good reason, Todd Downing has enraged the majority of football followers, as most of them called out the Titans OC for irresponsible behavior. The coach should set an example and not get drunk with them.

Emmanuel Acho’s tweet on Downing inspired numerous debates in the comment section, where some thought it was right that the OC was allowed to coach, whereas some argued otherwise.

However, the league was called out the most on Twitter, as people couldn’t figure out their double standards. The NFL does whatever they want to and bends the rules as per its likeness.
