The Los Angeles Rams sold their soul to the devil to win Super Bowl LVI and now the devil has come to collect. The Rams exchanged multiple picks for star players such as Matthew Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, and Von Miller. The Rams were only focused on the present and winning the Super Bowl then, because now they have to unload every player with a humongous contract.
They started with linebacker Bobby Wagner who they acquired in 2022 on a five-year contract. Now, they have let go of one of the best cornerbacks in the league, Jalen Ramsey. He was traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars who drafted him fifth overall in the 2016 NFL draft, to the Rams in 2019. The Pro Bowler then signed a five-year $105 million extension in 2020 that would’ve kept him with the team until 2024.
The Rams were $14.1 million over the salary cap and had no option but to release their playmakers and start building the team from scratch. The Los Angeles-based team traded Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins, in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 draft along with tight end Hunter Long.
Jalen Ramsey cut by the Rams after four years

The Dolphins have now made two blockbuster trades in the span of one year. Back in 2022, they signed the best wide receiver in the league Tyreek Hill and now the best cornerback has also joined their camp. Jalen Ramsey was the third-best cornerback in the league last season, as graded by Pro Football Focus. Ramsey (86.4) was trailing the Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner (87.9) and Pat Surtain II (86.8).
Fans were baffled at seeing the Rams trade a player of Ramsey’s capabilities for just one draft pick, and that too, a third round. Dolphins supporters were more than happy to have him on board and transcend the defense. Here are a few reactions of fans on this blockbuster trade.
Miami’s defense is going to be one of the best in the coming season because it is led by veteran coach Vic Fangio with Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard, and Jevon Holland. Looks like the Dolphins are making a play for the Super Bowl but are being smart about it after learning about the Rams’ condition. Let’s see how they fare in the 2023 season.
