“Everyone can breathe easy now”: Twitter goes crazy as Deebo Samuel signs a massive 3-year extension deal with San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel

This offseason has been one of the craziest ones in NFL history and more so for the wide receivers. We saw WRs taking home the big bucks. The Packers traded their star receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs also had to lose Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

Both the trades had to do with money and it felt like other star receivers also followed in Adams’ and Hill’s footsteps. A little while ago, what caught everyone’s attention was Deebo Samuel, who is in his final year of contract, openly claiming that he wants to leave the franchise.

Finally, the air around Deebo’s contract has cleared out completely. Samuel was expected to command a high compensation based on benchmarks set by the extensions of other Wide outs and something exactly like that has transpired. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport recently reported that Deebo has agreed to sign a contract extension with the 49ers.

Reportedly, the extension is for a period of three years and is worth up to $73.5 million with $58.1 million in guaranteed money. Before the news of the extension break out, coach Kyle Shanahan had made it clear that the team is trying everything to keep Deebo with them as he is indeed a massive talent.

I know they’re grinding through it, that’s all I can share, but nothing’s been done yet, but I know they’re working hard on it,” Shanahan had stated. Undoubtedly, he would be extremely delighted with the deal. As expected, Twitter went crazy as soon as the extension news was made public.
