“Incredible start to the Joe Schoen era, Twitter goes crazy as New York Giants draft Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal as 5th and 7th picks in draft
New York Giants
The New York Giants had an excellent day at the 2022 NFL draft after they utilised their two first round picks to the maximum. The Giants drafted Oregon pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux as their 5th ranked player and Evan Neal as their No. 7 pick in what was a near perfect draft for the Giants.
The draft of Evan Neal is interestingly more significant for the Giants given the struggles the franchise went through in their offensive plays last season. The 6’7½, 337-pound offensive tackle should be a plug-and-play starter at right tackle for the Giants.

On the other hand, the drafting of Kayvon Thibodeaux as their 5th pick surprised many, as there had been question marks over the young pass rushers professionalism and work ethics among the various teams in the NFL. However, that did not matter to the Giants and they are confident in the 21-year Old’s abilities.
The New York Giants’ rookie general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were extremely please with themselves for the signings they were able to make in the draft this year.
“First to start off, we’re ecstatic with the two players we got, obviously getting Kayvon Thibodeaux, a really good pass rusher at five, we are excited about that,” Schoen said. “Thought of getting him there with Azeez [Ojulari] on the other side and the pass rush is important to us — so two young pass rushers on the team now that we are definitely excited about.”
