“He’s fast as hell,” Twitter hails Philadelphia Eagles WR Devon Allen for running third-best 110m hurdles time ever

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Devon Allen found himself in the news not for his NFL skills, but for his athletic skills. The 27-year old produced the third quickest 110m hurdles time in history at the New York Grand Prix on Sunday.

He finishes the race in record time, only the third fastest in the history in 12.84 seconds. Devon Allen was only 4 seconds behind breaking the world record in what was an astonishing wonder.

Allen was oy behind the duo of Aries Merritt (12.80) and world champion Grant Holloway (12.81), who placed second in 13.06. He only signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason and will feature for them in the upcoming season.

“I thought I was going to break the world record today so we’ll have to wait for another race,” he said.

It made me more relaxed and kind of focused me up in terms of what I’m doing … football and track, trying to balance both, I had to be really cautious about my recovery, my sleep, my diet, everything like that,” he said.

Allen finished fifth in the 2016 Olympic final and fourth at last year’s Tokyo Games. He might not have run at the New York meeting had he not caught Covid-19 in May, which prevented him linking up with the Eagles sooner and delayed it to the start of the new season.
