Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is receiving backlash after he disrespectfully left the former Saints QB Drew Brees hanging in an awkward moment. McAfee and Brees both are in Arizona to cover the most-anticipated event of the year for their respected brands. During their busy schedule, Brees tried to have a talk with McAfee but got ignored completely.
On Friday, the Phoenix Cardinals podcast posted the video of McAfee ignoring Brees with the caption, “That moment when Pat McAfee chooses to come on our pod instead of talking to Drew Brees.” The video has received over 2 million views within a few hours. The short clip shows McAfee talking to another person, while Brees was standing right next to him and was politely waiting for the Colts punter to finish his conversation. However, soon after McAfee finished his conversation, he started walking away.
The Saints QB started yelling McAfee’s name two times in hopes of having a conversation with him and yet McAfee started waltzing away from the scene, ignoring Brees completely. Stunned by what he was seeing, Brees just started walking slowly in an awkward manner before the video ended. The video went viral on Twitter and fans started calling out Pat McAfee for disrespecting the former Super Bowl Champion.
Pat McAfee apologizes for ignoring the Saints legend Drew Brees
After the video viral went on social media, fans started to call out Pat McAfee for disrespecting the legendary quarterback Drew Brees. However, McAfee alleges he didn’t even see Brees when it happened, but still apologized for ignoring him.
“Man… I did NOT see Drew Brees, I apologize IMMENSELY.. you’re a legend boss, this is 100% my fault,” wrote Pat McAfee while quote tweeting the original viral video which showed him disrespecting the 13-time NFL Pro Bowler.
Drew Brees hasn’t commented back on the incident yet, but it seems like there will be no bad blood between the legendary football players. However, the fans wasted no time to turn this whole thing into something wholly new.
NFL fans on social media joked that Pat McAfee intentionally dissed Brees due to his team’s Super Bowl loss against the Saints back in 2010. During McAfee’s rookie year, the Indianapolis Colts lost to the Drew Brees-led New Orleans Saints in the 2010 Super Bowl.
Nevertheless, both Pat McAfee and Drew Brees would be now focused on covering the big event Super Bowl between the Chiefs and the Eagles this Sunday in the best way possible.
