Carson Palmer just added some fire to the already-lit rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals’ former Pro Bowl QB recently made a controversial statement claiming Joe Burrow is a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes.

Last week, the 3-time Pro Bowl QB Carson Palmer made an appearance on The QB Room Podcast. During the episode, he claimed that the Bengals QB Joe Burrow is a more consistent signal-caller than the 5-time Pro Bowl QB Patrick Mahomes.

“I think Joe [Burrow] is the best quarterback in the league,” Carson Palmer said last week. “I know Patrick [Mahomes] is phenomenal, but I just think Joe’s more consistent. He’s more consistent. He’s more accountable to run the system and the play that’s called and not feel like, ‘Well, he didn’t win last time and get open for me, so I’m gonna do it with my feet,’ and then before you know it, you’re sacked for a four-yard loss because you tried to make two or three guys miss.”

Furthermore, he went on to claim that the mentally strong and physically tough Burrow doesn’t have a weakness and that the Bengals QB can do everything that the Chiefs QB Mahomes is doing.“I think he’s as athletic outside the pocket and can do a lot of the same things Patrick Mahomes has done,” said Palmer.

Carson Palmer ruffled a lot of feathers on social media with his controversial take about how Joe Burrow is a better quarterback than the 2-time All-Pro signal-caller Patrick Mahomes.

Now, Burrow is a good quarterback, great even, but when one compares his resume to the Chiefs’ franchise QB, it’s no competition. In his five seasons as a starter so far, Mahomes has been to 5 Pro Bowls and won 2 Super Bowls, 2 Super Bowl MVPs, and 2 league MVPs.

On the other hand, in the three seasons so far, Burrow has been to one Pro Bowl and has won the Comeback Player of the Year award one time. He missed most of his rookie season with injuries, but still, he has a long way to go to surpass the baby GOAT.

Nevertheless, Palmer’s controversial take would certainly be used as bulletin board material by the Chiefs and when the Bengals visit the Arrowhead Stadium in 2023, it will certainly be an electric atmosphere.
