“Maybe trade Rodgers” NFL Twitter roast Aaron Rodgers as the Packers fail to pull off a trade
Packers fail to pull off a trade this season
Nothing seems to be going Aaron Rodgers‘ and Green Bay Packers’ way this season. Currently, on a 4 game-losing streak, the Packers have failed to acquire any new weapons from the trade deadline to improve their sad state.
Sources engaged in the Tuesday trade talks claim that GM Brian Gutekunst had an interest in at least two players for this year’s trade talk. Receiver Chase Claypool of the Steelers, who was sent to the Bears for a second-round pick, and another offensive skill-position player who ultimately was not dealt before the trade deadline.
On a record-breaking NFL trade deadline day, which saw teams from all 32 NFL teams agree to 10 trades in total, Green Bay chose to remain silent.
Both of those players may have benefitted the Packers and the QB Aaron Rodgers. They desperately need help, especially at the receiver position, but they were unable to close any deals.
NFL Twitter makes Packers and Aaron Rodgers know how they exactly feel about their trade mishaps
“That just sent the message to us that–we’ve got to play with the guys we’ve got and win with the guys we’ve got–I think there’s still a lot of confidence in the guys in the locker room—I do feel like we need to get healthy.” These were Aaron Rodgers’ words on Wednesday when he was asked about the Packers’ trade misfiring on Tuesday. If AR was irked by the trade deal, he very well hid that from the media.
As they attempt to push for the playoffs, the Packers will now have to make do with their injured and inexperienced receiving group. The veterans, too, have to up their game if they want to at least want something in their division.
The performance of Aaron Rodgers in particular, who was crowned the NFL’s MVP for his first two seasons, hasn’t even gone close to his previous season’s outings. His 12-game run without a 300-yard throwing outing is tied for the longest of his career. It would be just the second time in his career that he averaged less than 7 yards per attempt, and his yards per throw attempt of 6.6 is on pace to be the lowest of his career.
It’s only natural that Aaron Rodgers is facing the heat from social media. But this time Twitter didn’t need a poor game performance to poke fun at Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. The team’s failure to grab some good deals this trade season was enough to ensure that. Have a look at some of the reactions from the NFL twitter on this epic oversight from the Packers’ management.
Well, the trade deadline has already passed now and there’s very little the Packers can do now. Good thing that the Packers might just break their losing streak this Sunday, as they will be going against Detroit Lions who are currently 1-6. The key word here is ‘might’, though.
