“Didn’t wanna play for the Seahawks after Russell and Bobby left,” Twitter pokes fun at Seattle Seahawks as Kenneth Walker ignored their call ahead of the 2022 NFL draft night

“Didn’t wanna play for the Seahawks after Russell and Bobby left,” Twitter pokes fun at Seattle Seahawks as Kenneth Walker ignored their call ahead of the 2022 NFL draft night

The NFL draft night is one of the most anticipated events in the life of a college footballer, as it gives them the opportunity to make the giant leap to play at the highest level. Innumerable people have their fortunes changed, with literally just one phone call that the franchises make to inform players of their future ahead of the big night.

However, Seattle Seahawks’ second-round pick Kenneth Walker gave the franchise quite a scare before eventually getting drafted by them in April. The 21-year old running back did not answer his phone when the Seahawks called him to inform him of their decision.

Seahawks’ general manager John Schneider tried numerous ways to call him on his personal cell phone, which kept on being directed to voicemail. The franchise also tried to reach Kenneth Walker’s family but ended up getting the same response.

All of this caused a great deal of panic within the camp, as time passed by. At one point, John Schneider pondered over the idea of drafting Michigan State Spartans’ star blindly but thankfully did not have to go through with it.

After several tries, Kenneth Walker finally picked up the phone call and Schneider was able to communicate with him, giving the player one of the best news he will probably receive during his entire professional career. “Ken Walker didn’t want to pick up. We thought he was taking a nap or something. And so, [things] got a little hectic,” Schneider said after the draft was finally made.

The series of events leading up to the phone call was released by Seattle Seahawks’ official Twitter account. This prompted Twitter users to troll the franchise, mostly with an underlying message that Kenneth Walker probably did not want to join the franchise, and therefore kept ignoring the phone call.
