“Natural born leader,” Twitter Reacts to Baker Mayfield coaching compatriot QB Matt Corral during Panthers practice

The Carolina Panthers pulled off a great deal when they traded in Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns for a 2024 conditional fifth-round draft pick, and it looks like the quarterback is settling in nicely. The 27-year-old had lost his importance at the Browns, after they signed controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson, and requested a trade move during the offseason.

In his new franchise, however, Baker Mayfield is not guaranteed a starting quarterback role after the Panthers decided to draft Matt Corral in the 2022 NFL draft, and the duo are now vying for the all-important role with one month to go before the regular season kicks-off.

In a heartwarming snippet seen from the Carolina Panthers training camp, Baker Mayfield was seen giving his inputs to rookie quarterback Matt Corral, despite what can be claimed as a bit of an inter-team rivalry. The video which shows Mayfield’s leadership skills won over the NFL fans, and they appreciated the veteran for the gesture.

Mayfield was seen spending a long time with Corral, during which he gestured quite a few passing techniques to the youngster. Corral too on his part looked keen to learn and grabbed hold of the opportunity.

The Carolina Panthers management team will have to decide who amongst Mayfield, Sam Darnold and Matt Corral will start their Week 1 fixture cometh the 11th of September when they face the Cleveland Browns. At this point, it looks as if Baker Mayfield will take the role, and if that is the case it would give him an excellent chance to show his former franchise what they will miss, by letting him go.
