The Detroit Lions are officially in a deep pit and have failed drastically in their efforts to arrest the slide throughout the season. The Lions fell to a 25-28 defeat against the Buffalo Bills and announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo had a role to play in that.

While their players failed to come up with the goods, Romo and Jim Nantz did their part from the announcer’s box. The incident occurred in the latter stages of the third quarter when the Detroit Lions received a field goal opportunity from a short 29-yard mark.

Lions called upon their tried and tested kicker Michael Badgley, who had an impeccable 100 percent record from the 20-29 yard range in his career. However, this time the 27-year-old sent his effort high and left the mark on what turned out to be a hilarious sequence when seen on television.

Jim Nantz denied the Lions a field goal opportunity through a hilarious jinx

This was because of the fact that CBS announcer Jim Nantz had just called out Badgley’s impeccable record for his television viewers. It was as if Nantz knew what was going to come up next, as he immediately retracted his statement saying, “Do not talk to me about an announcer’s jinx.”

And boy, did he turn out to be right. The announcer duo immediately tried to rescue the situation by making an apology to the Lions’ fans for their unintentional role in the field goal miss opportunity.

“Oh my gosh. No. No. Lions fans I apologize because Jim … if you just talk about it, it goes in, but instead he didn’t want to discuss it and Buffalo with a five-point lead.”

The announcers messed up another chance through their magical jinxing power, with the Buffalo Bills being at the receiving end of the treatment.
