During the 2021 season, the Los Angeles Rams, who were building their team for many years, went all in by trading for star players and won the Super Bowl. Many star players on that Super Bowl-winning team including their QB Matthew Stafford and CB Jalen Ramsey were acquired via trade. Although the team achieved its main goal now they have to pay the price.
The Rams are reportedly $14.19 million over the salary cap and they are trying to bring it down. Firstly, they released their star linebacker, Bobby Wagner, which could clear around 13 million dollars in cap space per reports. And now, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Rams are trying to add draft capital by trading away their star defensive back Jalen Ramsey in hopes of getting a good return for him.
The Los Angeles-based franchise hasn’t picked in the first round since 2016 and they won’t be picking in the first round in 2023 also since they traded it to the Detroit Lions to acquire QB Matthew Stafford. So the Rams are now trying to get a first-round pick in return for their star player Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey has had an excellent career so far. The 28-year-old DB has been to six consecutive Pro Bowls and has been named to the first team All-Pro team 3 times in his 7-year-long career so far. He also went to Pro Bowl in the 2022 season and registered 4 interceptions.

The 6’1″ defensive back is still playing at a premium level and arguably is in the top 3 cornerbacks list of many experts. However, trading him away is the best option right now for the LA Rams.
NFL fans on social media were shocked by the Rams trying to trade Jalen Ramsey. The Rams trying to get rid of two of their top defenders could mean only one thing, a rebuild. The Rams, if they get anything in return for their top cornerback, could draft a first-round talent who would receive way less money than Ramsey and that’s what they’ll be trying to do.
Most NFL fans wanted their team to try to trade for the 6-time Pro Bowl cornerback. However, most teams would not be willing to give up a lot for the 28-year-old cornerback. The Rams might not get what they want and would eventually have to settle for a mid-round draft pick if the trade goes through.
