“Imagine if a black player did this at a weed convention” – NFL Twitter reacts to Pat McAfee lauding Aaron Rodgers’ controversial speech at the psychedelics conference
Pat McAfee backed Aaron Rodgers as he advocated the use of psychedelics at the Denver psychedelic conference.
Pat McAfee has supported Aaron Rodgers for advocating about the use of Psychedelics
With the increasing demand for allowing psychedelic medicines to be legalized throughout the country, a recent conference was held in Denver to promote their benefits. Several notable personalities spoke about their experiences using psychedelics.
Among them was NFL star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He revealed how taking ayahuasca in the past helped him through tough times. Pat McAfee was discussing the possibilities of legalizing and how Aaron Rodgers’ advocacy will reach a much larger audience.
“I would say whatever people want to do to make themselves feel the best, why don’t we fu***g let them do it?” McAfee said, “If it’s not self-detrimental or self-harm, who cares? Why are we cutting any of that back? He also touched on the dark side of psychedelic use, “One wrong trip, you go down the wrong path, and you get addicted.” However, McAfee believes if more people like Aaron Rodgers speak up, then more people will listen.
That’s not all; he even gave the example of Bob Parsons, who was a mess after his tour of Vietnam during the conflict. Go Daddy’s founder revealed that taking psychedelic medicine helped him recover from PTSD. “It made him human again,” emphasized McAfee, and “he couldn’t have advocated louder in our show.” It will help a lot more military personnel recover from war trauma. “If this is proven to help people be the best possible persons they can be, then why couldn’t we start it?”
The Netizens are divided about McAfee supporting Aaron Rodgers’ statements
As expected, fans are a bit divided at the moment on the comments by Pat McAfee in support of Aaron Rodgers and the use of Psychedelic medicines. While the majority of users seem to disagree with McAfee, a few who want to see them legalized agreed with him as well.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
However, there are few who would like to differ:
During the conference, Aaron Rodgers addressed the same issue. He targeted the people who trolled him for his use of psychedelics. “Is it not ironic that the things that actually expand your mind are illegal and the things that keep you in lower case and dum you down have been legal for centuries?” said Rodgers. “All these bums who want to come after me online about my experiences have never tried it; they are the perfect people for it; we need to get these people taking it.”
He backed up his claims of positive results with Psychedelics by uttering his records as a Packer. “It’s going to be hard to cancel me,’ said Rodgers, “because the previous year (2019)—26 touchdowns, four interceptions—we had a good season.”
Moreover, he also mentioned that he has seen an overwhelmingly positive response from the athletic community. “The response from other people in the sports industry has been pretty incredible. To see players, surfers, entertainers, and my own teammates and colleagues across the league reach out and share their story about their own medicine journey was pretty special,” he said to CNN.
Besides Rodgers, former NHL player Daniel Carcillo, owner of a company specializing in psychedelic therapies, gave a speech. Olympic silver-medal figure skater Sasha Cohen and Carl Hart, the chair of Columbia University’s psychology department, made some sound arguments.
