“Season over before it even started!” – NFL Twitter SLAMS the Texans’ decision of naming rookie C.J. Stroud as their QB1 over Davis Mills
Fans argue that Davis Mills has been robbed of his position and Stroud is doomed to fail.

It’s official. C.J. Stroud will be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans in week one against the Baltimore Ravens. The announcement was just a formality, considering how well he has performed in the past couple of weeks.
The 21-year-old completed the preseason with 11 of 20 passes for 89 yards. But his performance against the Saints on Sunday was brief but to the point. Stroud had a 100% pass completion rate as he went 2-for-4 for 16 yards.
After yesterday’s game, it was only a matter of time before coach DeMeco Ryans would pick the former Ohio State center as his No. 1. “It’s been over the course of the entire process of OTAs, training camps, and preseason games,” Ryans told the New York Post. “The ball was coming out on time. It was encouraging to seem him comfortable.”
C. J. Stroud was phenomenal in college. In 28 games for the Buckeyes, he completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 8,123 yards, 85 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. This prompted the Houston Texans to make him the second overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft as a replacement for Deshaun Watson, who left in 2020.

Fans are not happy with the Houston Texans opting for C.J. Stroud
Last night’s reveal came as a shock to some fans who don’t wish to have a rookie as a starter. Considering the Texans’ record for the past few years shows a downward trajectory, they claim a fresh face won’t make much difference.
Davis Mills, a third-year pro out of Stanford, filled in for a couple of seasons. The former third-round pick played 26 games and had a pass completion rate of 63.6 percent. Mills threw for 5,782 yards, scoring 33 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. The Texans finished the 2022 NFL season with only 3 wins, 13 losses, and one draw. Not a great return. Even so, the 24-year-old was the favorite to continue until everything changed on Sunday.
Nevertheless, Stroud will be the starter, at least against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 10. He spoke to the media after their 17-13 victory yesterday.
“It’s a blessing to be able to play this game, man,” Stroud said during the after-match press conference. “It was a blessing to be out there, playing in the Superdome. It’s something I have worked for and definitely earned at the same time; nothing else really changes.” Despite the displeasure of one section of the fans, it’s clear the Texans are handing over their franchise key to the rookie.
