22-year-old ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Brock Purdy led the San Francisco 49ers to perfection in just his second start for the team as the quarterback as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-13 to clinch the playoff berth. Not only they became the second team to qualify for the playoffs, but they also became the first team to win their division. The San Francisco 49ers are now the NFC West champions.

Purdy made his debut for the 49ers a few days ago against the Bucs when star QB Jimmy Garoppolo was ruled out for the season due to a foot fracture. He became the first quarterback to beat Tom Brady on his debut and also became the first ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ to start a game. In just his second start, he kept his calm and showed nerves of steel to make no serious mistake at Lumen Field, one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.

Purdy completed 17 of the 26 passes. He attempted for a total of 217 yards with two touchdown passes and no interceptions. While the 49ers’ defense was once again on point in the game, Purdy did exactly what he was supposed to do to bring the team home. Purdy, who has already scripted so much history, is eyeing to become the first rookie passer to play and win a Super Bowl.

Fans on social media were very happy with Purdy’s performance in his first two starts. They loved his charisma and even compared him to NFL legend Tom Brady. Some fans even argued that it is too early to rate him highly as the 49ers were winning, even without him courtesy of their sublime defense.

With the NFC West division sealed, the 49ers will look to better their record and win all of their remaining games. They are currently 10-4 for the season and are the fourth-best team in the conference after the Eagles, the Cowboys, and the Vikings. Many believe that the 49ers, despite what it looks like on paper, are the scariest team in the league and are serious contenders for the Super Bowl this season. In their remaining games in the regular season, they’ll face the Commanders, the Raiders, and the Cardinals.
