The Dallas Cowboys have been the most profitable sports franchise in the world for seven straight years, but they have no on-field success to show for it. Naturally, the fans who would rather see their team win the championship aren’t keen on how much profit owner Jerry Jones makes every year.

Every year, Forbes brings out a list of teams or franchises around the world that generate the most money. They compile the income as earnings before the mandatory interest, taxes, amortization, and depreciation. According to the list by Forbes, the Cowboys and Jerry Jones have kept pace with their year-by-year growth except for 2021 due to COVID-19 complications.

The Cowboys steadily grew their income, and in 2022, their revenue touched $8 billion. Since 2018, their balance has grown 4% each year, Athletic Panda reported. One of the primary sources of their financial affluence is their partnership with WinStar Casino. Although the NFL did not allow gambling until recently, they did not restrict any owner from associating with a casino. Undoubtedly, this lesser-known source is one of the top contributors when it comes to the Cowboys and Jerry Jones’ riches.

Despite all the money and luxury outside of football, the Dallas franchise has had very little to show for it in the trophy cabinet for the past two decades. Unsurprisingly, the fans have not been too thrilled with the announcement. That is why they have asked Jones, why can’t Dak Prescott and co. deliver a championship?

The Cowboys fans do have some grudges against Jerry Jones for failing to emulate his early years as the owner. The 80-year-old Los Angeles native bought the Dallas franchise in 1989 from H. R. Bright for $140 million.

Jones’s early tenure as the boss was very fruitful, as Troy Aikman led them to win two back-to-back Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993. Another ring followed after a year’s gap in 1995. Naturally, the fans were raving about how well their team was run.

However, recent years haven’t been smooth sailing for them. The Dallas Cowboys may have been the richest team in the world for seven straight years, but they don’t have any silverware to show for it. Even with a strong and well-balanced squad, the best they could achieve is the wildcard playoff wins.
