Dalvin Cook is currently looking for a new franchise after being released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason. The hunt for a new home has been a tedious one so far, but it hasn’t been for the lack of demand for the veteran running back.
One of the franchises that would benefit from the signing of Cook, who is currently a free agent, is the New York Jets. The Jets have taken rapid strides during the offseason with big-name signings to improve their roster. It all started with the massive trade of Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers amid massive signings of Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Tim Boyle.
Jets tight end Tyler Conklin, now believes that the Jets should also rope in Dalvin Cook to add to their illustrious names of new joiners this season. Conklin spent two seasons with Cook during his time at the Vikings and has already reached out to him to clarify the rumors regarding the latter’s upcoming destination.
Tyler Conklin wants Dalvin Cook to help the Jets win a Super Bowl this season
“There’s plenty of room. We’ve got room for whoever wants to come help us win a Super Bowl,” Conklin said while making an appearance on Good Morning Football. “Me and Dalvin were basically locker mates my first couple years, and he was an awesome guy. I reached out to him because I was just curious, like are the rumors true? Is this actually possible?”
New York Jets‘ offensive roster has undergone a massive makeover this offseason. However, Conklin feels having too many running backs would also help the side.
“That’d be a special backfield with Breece and Dalvin and the rookie and whatnot, Mike Carter. I don’t know. That’s a lot of running backs, but I think that’d be special, especially in this outside zone scheme,” Conklin said.
The 27-year-old has been in sensational form over the past few seasons, recording four consecutive 1000-plus rushing yards, and would be a great addition to any team he joins. It would be interesting to see whether the Jets eventually sign Cook, but he’s definitely a player that would fit their bill.
