The Miami Dolphins did not have the season they intended to this year. There are a lot of improvements that need to be made to their roster as they struggled against good teams in the NFL. However, the one area the team will not be addressing in the offseason is their depth on offense. With Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as the wide receivers, there is pretty much no player they can bring on who will be better than either of these two at this position.

Despite Waddle’s talent, he is not safe from being the subject of trade rumors. While it is highly unlikely that the Miami Dolphins will trade away a young wideout with immense potential, Tyreek Hill made sure he did his part to defend his teammate and prove that he has his back. Hill had the highest degree of appreciation for Waddle and tweeted his honest thoughts via X.

Hill said that Waddle is the future and asserted that he is better than Hill at the current stage of his career. The wideout knows the potential Waddle has and recognizes it. It is not every day that Hill calls another receiver better than himself.

My boy Waddle is the future, he is better than I was at this point in his career and for people in this fan base to want to trade him is ludicrous.

Tyreek Hill has a lot of respect for Jaylen Waddle’s potential

He acknowledged the fact that Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle are special and that they will continue to be special after he departs from Miami. The three-time Pro Bowler who will be an undisputed Hall of Famer in the future, had a different route before he was given the role of the starting wideout.

He was a special teams returner, and with Waddle, he was able to make his way to the starting roster almost immediately. This means Waddle has had more opportunities than Hill does at the start of his career.

But this does not take away from Jaylen Waddle’s achievements. He got off to a roaring start in the NFL as he has had three straight 1,000-yard seasons joining the likes of Randy Moss, Odell Beckham Jr., and Mike Evans amongst others. He has managed to accomplish this feat despite having Tyreek Hill receive the volume of passes thrown by his QB.

As he heads into the final year of his rookie contract, Jaylen Waddle will attempt to put up yet another remarkable season to prove that he deserves to be paid. This season, he had 1,014 yards on 72 receptions, and 4 touchdowns while averaging 14.1 yards. There is no doubt that Waddle is indeed the future but the question is will he remain the future of the Miami Dolphins or will the team’s cap constraints compel them to part ways with him?
