Tyreek Hill is arguably the best wide receiver in the league right now. There is no doubt that teams must’ve run behind Hill to sign him to the roster when he was looking for a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, there is one team that didn’t want anything to do with Hill – Cleveland Browns. The Browns were in contention as the potential landing spots for the superstar receiver along with the Jets and the Dolphins. While signing memorabilia for fans on Saturday, Hill was approached by a fan wearing a Deshaun Watson jersey, to which he revealed that he wanted to play for the team.
“They should’ve paid me, I tried to come to Cleveland. I tried, but they didn’t want me,” Hill was heard saying in a video captured by a fan. Tyreek Hill signed a four-year $120 million deal with $72 million in guaranteed money, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in the history of the league.
The reason Cleveland must’ve backed out was that they were out of money. The Browns signed a five-year $230 million fully guaranteed deal with Watson. After paying the former Texans quarterback, the team was running dry and couldn’t afford to have Tyreek Hill on the roster as well. This theory might hit the bullseye or be wrong. The Browns haven’t commented on Hill’s statement and the wideout also hasn’t given any detailed insights into his negotiations with Cleveland.

Tyreek Hill had his best performance in Miami
Hill was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Hill played for the Chiefs for six seasons and was at the center of the offense along with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The trio was the most feared offense in the league and won Super Bowl LIV together.
After the end of the 2021 season, Tyreek Hill asked the Chiefs to pay him the big bucks but the team couldn’t. Chiefs traded him to the Miami Dolphins, who happily shelled out $30 million a year for him.
In the 2022 season, The Cheetah had his best performance yet. He had 119 receptions for 1,710 yards and 7 touchdowns. The 29-year-old was named to his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl last season. Hill doesn’t seem to show any signs of deterioration in his playmaking ability and the Dolphins will greatly benefit in the coming years and might make it to the top of the AFC with his help.
Let’s see if Tyreek Hill can deliver another 1500+ yards season or not!
