Fans have seen Tyreek Hill dash pass cornerbacks time and time again during Miami Dolphins training and in the NFL. For once, the Cheetah was at the end of his own medicine.
During the offseason, Tyreek Hill organizes several youth football training camps nationwide and abroad. On Saturday, the Super Bowl winner was in Spain, mingling with young football enthusiasts dreaming of making it big in the NFL.
From explaining how to run routes to demonstrating his exceptional speed, Hill was in his element. But when it came time to dabble in the realm outside of his expertise, he was sweating a bit.
A video clip surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) in which Hill switched roles and opted to perform the role of a cornerback, whose job it is to stop runners like the 30-year-old. One of the teens with red gloves (shades of Tyreek Hill) lined up as the receiver. Someone (off camera) tossed the ball in the air, and the boy did a faint, which forced Hill to turn around for a mid-run.
As a result, he stumbled to the ground, watching the kid zoom past him. However, the boy slipped and failed to catch the pass, so Hill had the last laugh.
Tyreek Hill is a coach at heart
Hill is all about giving back to the community. Even when he was still on the Kansas City Chiefs roster, the Georgia native would set up camps and invite kids to participate so that they could learn from an NFL pro.
Back in 2021, during one such camp, Hill spoke with FOX4KC reporter Harold R. Kuntz. He spoke about how thrilling it is to see so many kids come to these events.
The amount of kids who come out and participate in these things—it's just amazing for me—a surreal feeling. As a kid, I grew up attending such camps to meet my idol. I am just trying to be a positive role model.Hill said
More importantly, the primary reason for these camps is to teach kids a thing or two about football, which he has learned while playing on the biggest stage. He rightfully pointed out that perhaps everyone can’t be like their idol, but hard work and dedication to the game can open doors.
Not everybody's going to have a [Patrick] Mahomes arm or [Travis] Kelce's ability to get open or be able to run a 4.2, but if you're coachable and you work hard, those things are attainable.Tyreek Hill said
Hill is undeniably one of the best receivers in the league. In 2023, he sailed to new heights in pursuit of 2000 receiving yards. He registered a career-high of 119 catches for 1799 yards and 13 touchdowns.
