Twitter is changing and the first step is for the social media giant to take its iconic blue verified tick mark away from celebrities and other prominent individuals. Users are now required to pay a monthly subscription fee of $8 in order to retain their verified blue tick. A move that was rather absurd but one that CEO Elon Musk decided was needed.

With this policy coming into effect on 4/20, many renowned athletes, celebrities, and prominent personalities who had not subscribed to the new service lost their verified mark. While many of them did not appear to care much about it, this bothered former NBA player and current media personality, Kendrick Perkins.

Perk had no intention to pay to keep his verified symbol but was enraged when Twitter took it away. He expressed his anger and frustration toward Twitter by tweeting this, “They took my Blue Check?!!! They can keep that MF because I refuse to pay to be famous!!! Carry the hell on…” Did someone forget to give Perk the memo? Twitter had told that users who would not subscribe would automatically lose their blue tick.
