Germany saw its first-ever bout between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins. But the hype about the tie was all about Tyreek Hill facing his former employers.

The Chiefs sold Hill to the Miami Dolphins a year after winning their second-ever Super Bowl. Although it wasn’t clear as to why they would part ways with arguably their best receiver, later reports revealed contract talks forced the 29-year-old’s hands.

That’s all in the past, and Hill had been rocking South Beach with 1014 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns from 61 receptions in 8 games before the showdown in Frankfurt. He had set a goal for himself before flying off to Europe to drop more than 200 yards against the Chiefs.

It would have been wonderful to see him play his first game since moving to Arrowhead, but that chance went begging. On game day, before kick-off at Deutsche Bank Park, Hill ran out of the tunnel, saw Reds head coach Andy Reid, and greeted him.

Wats up, man?
Hill asked the veteran coach

To which, he replied:

How are you? Good to see you.

Hill further added:

I love you, man, and I just want to say thank you for everything, coach.

Then he saw his old quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

Hey! 15. You know I love you too, boy.

To which Mahomes replied:

Keep doing your thing, man, and stay healthy.

How did Tyreek Hill fair against the Kansas City Chiefs?

Both the Chiefs and the Dolphins went into the game with an identical 6-2 record in 2023. But to the odd makers, Miami were slight favorites to win because of the firepower of Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios, and Raheem Mostert, which the Chiefs were lacking. They mostly relied on the services of star tight end Travis Kelce, who has 597 yards and four touchdowns.

However, on the day, most of them were missing, and it was the running game that shined the most. Hill, contrary to his word, managed only 62 yards, and Kelce stopped at 14. But the 34-year-old became the Chiefs all-time leading receiver, crossing Tony Gonzalez.

The game was much more spread around, with four of Coach Reid’s players recording 20 or more receiving yards. Rookie Rashee Rice scored his fourth touchdown of the season.

Despite the defeat, the Dolphins are still leading the AFC East. But they are a tad lucky, as the Bills missed the chance to catch up, losing to the Bengals the very next day. Hill and the Dolphins are currently serving their bye similar to the Chiefs and will face the Las Vegas Raiders the following week.
