Joe Burrow is arguably a top 3 quarterback in the league right now. The Cincinnati Bengals QB took his franchise to back-to-back AFC Championship games. He is now preparing to lead the Bengals once again to a deep postseason run. However, before he became a star in NFL, Burrow was once insulted by the famed head coach Urban Meyer during his college days.

The Bengals QB Joe Burrow arguably had one of the greatest college football seasons by a quarterback ever. During his final year at LSU, Burrow registered 5671 passing yards and 60 passing touchdowns while throwing just 6 interceptions. Burrow also led LSU to a National Championship victory and won the 2019 Heisman Trophy honors. Arguably the best season by a college QB ever.

But before Burrow torched the SEC defenses on Saturdays, the talented quarterback once served as a backup QB at Ohio State. When Joe Burrow played as a backup QB for the Buckeyes, the then-Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer reportedly insulted Burrow’s accuracy and passed a sexist comment about his arm strength.

Meyer allegedly told Burrow that he throws the rock “like a girl.” Besides, Meyer also referred to Burrow as a Division 2 quarterback. Nevertheless, Burrow proved that he’s the best of the best when he finished the 2019 college football season as National Champion and Heisman Trophy winner after transferring from Ohio State to LSU the previous year. Additionally, Burrow enter the league the following season as the No.1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

After a historic college football season in 2019, Joe Burrow was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 1st overall pick in 2020. Burrow missed most of his rookie season due to a torn ACL injury.

However, in his second year in the league, Burrow torched the NFL defenses as he registered 4611 passing yards and 34 touchdowns which led to him winning the Comeback Player of the Year award for the 2021 season.

Besides, Burrow also proved the former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer’s comments about his accuracy wrong. He led the league in completion percentage in 2021 as he completed an impressive 70.4 percent of his pass attempts.

In his third year, Joe Burrow registered his first Pro Bowl season and finished fourth in the MVP voting. And now, he looks to lead the Bengals to another deep playoff run in the upcoming season.
