The Dallas Cowboys had yet another mediocre season in 2022. They ended the regular season with a 12-5 record and went into the postseason. The offense, especially Dak Prescott wasn’t consistent for the entirety of the season which has been a tradition for the quarterback. Still, they went into the playoffs and defeated Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
After what was a near-perfect performance from Dak Prescott, the Cowboys completely shattered against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoffs round and were ousted from the Super Bowl run. This defeat marked the 28th year when Dallas hasn’t been to the NFC Championship game. A lot of shots were fired mainly at Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy and both accepted their shortcomings and promised to bounce back harder.
The Dallas Cowboys are going to make a lot of changes this offseason and they started that by firing their offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and hiring Brian Schottenheimer. Their defense is stacked with playmakers and they have carried the team when the offense came up short. No matter how elite the defense is, it cannot carry a mid-offense. So, the Cowboys needs to step it up and give the weapons to Prescott.
KaVontae Turpin will prove his worth during the offseason

Other than Dak Prescott, wide receiver Ceedee Lamb is the only noteworthy weapon on the offense. Michael Gallup had a season-ending injury and won’t have a breakout season right off the bat. So the front office needs to look at other options to have that No.2 threat on the field. There has been a consistent drop in production by running back Ezekiel Elliot which has been a cause for concern for them.
KaVontae Turpin, return specialist for the Cowboys has thrown his hat in the ring for new weapons on the offense. Turpin is a former United States Football League (USFL) wide receiver who won the MVP in its opening season. He had 44 receptions for 540 yards and 4 touchdowns. Turpin was also used as a running back where he ran for 129 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown.
While talking on the Blogging the Boys podcast, KaVontae Turpin revealed that he has had a chance to told to the officials about him getting a more prominent role on the offense. “They are going to try and get me on the offense and try to make guys respect me more on both sides of the ball,” Turpin said. “I’m going into this training camp, I’m basically trying to show them that they have no choice but to use me on offense, that’s my mindset.”
The 26-year-old returner played 61 snaps on offense in his first game as a Dallas Cowboy. He had 3 carries for 17 yards and one reception for 9 yards. The Pro Bowler has the speed and strength to make a difference for the Cowboys on offense. He added, “I’m a playmaker with the ball in my hand and I can scare guys without the ball. Just on the same field together, me and CeeDee Lamb, I just feel like that’s my biggest thing going on, just showing them that they gotta have me on the field.”
Turpin did shine in the inaugural season of the USFL but NFL is a step above that and it is really difficult to make your mark here. Let’s see if the Cowboys upgrade him to the offense for the 2023 season or not because he sure seems ready to dominate.
