The Miami Dolphins entered the season with a lot of expectations. They had one of the most prolific offenses in the league, but their defense was often susceptible to big plays. The Vic Fangio-led defense seldom kept their opponents in check, but that did not matter, as the team’s offense almost always outplayed the opposing team.

However, that strategy always had its risks and it came to ahead in the playoffs. The Dolphins were soundly defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round. In freezing conditions, the Dolphins’ defense allowed Patrick Mahomes and company to put up 26 points and that was enough to win the game. As a result of that, the Dolphins decided to fire their DC.

Fangio has been in the league for a long time. The former Denver Broncos’ head coach was on the Philadelphia Eagles’ radar for a long time and they are looking to snap him up as the team’s DC now that he’s available for the taking.

Fangio served as the Eagles’ consultant last year, when they went all the way to the Super Bowl. Although they lost the ultimate game against the Chiefs, they had a great season and the Dolphins took a chance on him this season.

They were expected to win the Super Bowl this year, but faltered against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
