On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles, led by their franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts, went against the Seattle Seahawks in their week 15 matchup. During the rough matchup, the Eagles’ offensive lineman Jason Kelce seemingly got caught moving the ball half a yard forward before the quarterback sneak.

During the second quarter of the game, the Eagles were trying to put more points on the board. They were facing a crucial 3rd down and 1 in the endzone and were trying to sneak the ball. But, before they could snap the ball, the refs threw the flag and called a penalty on the Eagles center Jason Kelce.

The officials determined the Eagles’ All-Pro offensive lineman moved the ball forward before the snap and called a false start penalty. An overhead camera footage showed Kelce moving the ball half a yard forward before lining up for the play. Check out the footage of the play attached below.

As a result of the penalty, the Eagles eventually had to settle for a field goal in that drive. ESPN’s analyst John Parry confirmed on the Monday Night Football broadcast that it was indeed a penalty. But fans on social media were divided in their opinions about the play.

While many agreed with the penalty some people couldn’t believe the officials could call a false start penalty on that play. Many fans claimed that every center and long-snapper in the history of the league has been doing the same thing for years.

Nonetheless, despite their 10-point lead early in the game, the Eagles couldn’t hold on to their lead till the end. As a result, the Philadelphia-based football team ended up suffering a brutal 20-17 loss against the Seahawks. Their All-Pro quarterback Jalen Hurts had one of the worst outings in his career with two interceptions’ performance.

Jason Kelce reportedly has been doing it for years

And now, reports suggest Kelce has been doing it and getting away with it for years. He has been accused of doing it previously by an NFL analytics according to The Athletic. Many believe that was the recipe for their success in the controversial tush-push play.

However, many offensive linemen have been doing it for years and Kelce is simply one among them. Nonetheless, the Eagles ended up suffering a crucial loss and fell to a 10-4 record on Monday. With that loss, the NFC East division title race has become a lot more interesting.
