“Choke Artist” – Vikings fans CANCEL Kirk Cousins’ for his ‘brainless’ 3-yard checkdown on 4th down with the season on the line

The Minnesota Vikings are indeed proven to be frauds as they faced a heartbreaking defeat against the New York Giants in their wildcard matchup. The Vikings had a strong 13-4 regular season record but folded when it mattered the most. Furthermore, the way the game ended riled up the Vikings fans since their QB Kirk Cousins threw a 3-yard checkdown to end their season.
During the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Vikings were trailing by seven points and had the ball around the field. They were facing a 4th and 8 and that’s when Cousins decided to check the ball down to his tight end TJ Hockenson for a 3-yard gain. The playcalling, execution, and check down were all questioned by many and angered the Vikings fans who are waiting for a playoff win since 2019.
Moreover, the checkdown deflected the blame from the Vikings who allowed 31 points against the Daniel Jones-led Giants offense. In fact, Cousins played well throughout the night but just couldn’t close the game and now his poor decision with the season on the line has once again ruined his legacy. The 34-year-old QB completed 31 of his 39 pass attempts for 273 yards and accumulated 3 total touchdowns.
The Vikings’ mid-season accession TJ Hockenson came up in a big way as he caught 10 passes for 129 yards while averaging 12.9 yards per reception. And yet, he was clowned on the internet for running a short route on 4th and 8.
Social media cancels Vikings QB Kirk Cousins
The Vikings fans are fed up with Kirk Cousins after the QB failed to take their team across the end line. The Minnesota-based franchise suffered a first-round exit in the playoffs after an impressive outing in the regular season.
Furthermore, fans called for a change at the quarterback position in this off-season either by drafting a new player or acquiring a veteran in free agency. Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Baker Mayfield are some of the names that were thrown around as the replacement for the veteran QB.
The Vikings however will not pick high enough in the 2023 NFL Draft to draft a QB who could become the next best thing in the league. So they either have to try the free agency marker or stick with the talented yet inconsistent Kirk Cousins.
On the flip side, the New York Giants have defeated the Vikings and will continue their hunt for a Super Bowl ring. However, they have to defeat the NFC No.1 seed team the Philadelphia Eagles to advance to the next round of the postseason.
