Good news for those wondering what’s next for Aaron Jones, now that he has been released from the Green Bay Packers. The running back has joined the queue of legendary Packers players who signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Rest assured, he is going to remain in the NFL North Division.

Last Tuesday, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Jones is likely to sign a one-year contract deal with the Vikings worth $7 million. Interestingly, the offer came just a day after he was released by the Packers

As per his contract with the Green Bay Packers, he was set to make $11.1 million this season, but the franchise asked him to take a huge pay cut. But he refused, resulting in his release. Even though he has signed for less money with the Vikings, it’s probably higher than what could have been with the Packers’ pay cut.

Jones was counted among the top running backs in the season until 2022, as he logged 1,100+ yards and over seven touchdowns in four consecutive seasons with the Packers.

Then, in 2023, he sustained a hamstring injury. In the 11 games he played last season, he posted 656 rush yards and 233 receiving yards, along with three touchdowns.

Fan reaction to Aaron Jones signing with the Vikings

The Vikings’ move to acquire the 2022 NFL rushing champion right after his release from the Packers couldn’t have been timed more perfectly.

They were in desperate need of a running back based on last season’s stats, where they ranked 29th in rushing per game and 24th in rushing per carry.

Fans seemed to be just as happy as Jones and the Vikings. As they highlighted, adding RB Jones to the roster would not only strengthen their offensive game but also make them Super Bowl contenders. They applauded this offseason move and also Jones’ agent, saying he deserves a raise.
