The San Francisco 49ers became the super example of the English proverb ‘All is well that ends well.’ The team clinched a consecutive second clutch victory. This time it came against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game. The Kyle Shanahan-led 49ers would be facing the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LVIII now.

Despite trailing by 7-24 in halftime, the team made multiple comeback drives in the second half. A game-decisive third quarter followed by a tenacious fourth one made it for the Niners.

The visiting Detroit crowd celebrated too early. In the first half, when the Lions were leading by a hefty 17 points lead, the fans started celebrating with ‘Jared Goff’ chants. The visitors were cheering with Jared Goff‘s name. If only they had an idea how drastically it would turn out at the end.

Like the Divisional playoff round, the Niners hold their nerves till the end of the last quarter. Against the Packers, they turned the table at the dying moments. They did a similar job against the Lions as well. In both of the games, it was Christian McCaffrey who provided the Niners their momentum by securing necessary touchdowns. He stole the show that was set for Brock Purdy.

The third quarter return finally paved the way for the Super Bowl for the Niners

After a poor scoreline in the first half, the Niners needed momentum drastically in the second half. A quarter was needed for them to get back on track. The third quarter of the game came in handy as they garnered 14 points with two necessary touchdowns.

It all started with Jake Moody‘s 43-yard field goal. Then followed by a touchdown by Brock Purdy’s pass to Brandon Aiyuk. Lastly, McCaffrey’s one-yard touchdown run took the score to 24-24.

It is to be noted that the Niners’ defense refrained the Lions from scoring a single point in the third quarter. It proved to be decisive at the end of the final quarter.

In the fourth and final quarter, Moody had another field goal, this time from 33 yards, that helped the Niners clinch a lead for the first time in the game. It was followed by a touchdown by Elijah Mitchell, who took the lead to seven points. Goff tried to come back with a touchdown but failed to secure a win. The Lions fought till the last minute, but the Niners had the last laugh.
