“No rivalry there” Myles Garrett is geared up for “few sacks” against former teammate Baker Mayfield
Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett have had a terrible start to the preseason, with the ongoing case of Deshaun Watson there’s chaos surrounding the Browns camp. The Browns also traded their QB, Baker Mayfield, to the Panthers in support of Deshaun Watson who is currently suspended for 11 games.
Baker Mayfield is with the Panthers and will face off against the Browns in week 1 of the new NFL season. Myles Garrett is optimistic about the matchup and is prepared to take on his former QB.
Baker Mayfield stated that he’ll have some extra energy when he faces the Browns in his first game with the Panthers. His former teammate Myles Garrett feels differently.
Garrett and Mayfield were both drafted in the same year and were responsible to usher in a new Browns era. They both played together for four before the Browns decided to replace Mayfield with Deshaun Watson.
Myles Garrett stated that there’s no love lost between the two teammates and it’ll business as usual on the field. He also said that he would like to reunite with his old teammate after the game.
“He’s my former teammate, but there’s no rivalry there between me and him and there’s no rivalry there between the Panthers and the Browns,” Garrett said. “Yes, he was here but it doesn’t mean I have an added sense of urgency to get to him.
I want to play my best and whatever’s in the cards that’s what’s in it for me. If I can help my team win, if I can put them in the best position to win, I’m gonna do that. If I can get a couple sacks along the way, I’d kind of enjoy that too.”

Baker Mayfield has remained somewhat quiet on the matter and has adopted a diplomatic approach after his transfer to the Panthers. Mayfield was also in a tough competition with teammate Sam Darnold for the QB spot, though he came out on top when he was named as No.1 QB for the Panthers this season.
Baker Mayfield will be looking for a sweet victory on the 11th of September in the Bank of America stadium. Mayfield is looking for redemption and wants to prove the Browns wrong for putting their money on the wrong guy. It’s a tailor-made storyline for the start of the 2022 NFL season.
