The college football national championship game between the Georgia Bulldogs and TCU created a lot of buzzes on social media and the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes fueled the buzz of the event with his tweet.
Before he took over the league as the Chiefs signal caller, Mahomes played collegiate ball at Texas Tech University. During his three year tenure as a Red Raider Mahomes was torching FBS teams on Saturdays as he threw for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns. Furthermore, he was the 2016 Sammy Baugh award winner, which is given to the best passer in college football.
And then he was drafted by the Chiefs in 2017 and soon he took over the league by winning the league MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and a Super Bowl ring. The 27-year-old QB now has a bye-week during the wild-card weekend and decided to enjoy his Monday with some CFP action. Moreover, the Texas Tech product partly revealed who he might be rooting for in the CFP championship game via Twitter.
“I want to root for the Big 12 but am I allowed to root for TCU?,” tweeted Mahomes. He might still be sour about his 1-2 record against the Horned Frogs, but as he revealed, he might’ve rooted for TCU because of the Big 12 connection. He also retweeted the Big 12 Conference’s tweet which said “Yes, Go Big 12!.”
Earlier during the semifinal weekend, Patrick Mahomes mocked the misfortunes of the Wolverines who were playing against TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, so it’s clear that Mahomes has been following the Horned Frogs’ games and it’s not crazy to think he might’ve rooted for the underdogs TCU during the CFP Final.

Patrick Mahomes aims for his second Super Bowl

At just 27 years of age and just 5 years as a starter, Patrick Mahomes has achieved a lot of things in the league. He has won two AFC Championship games, numerous AFC West division titles, and a Super Bowl ring.
Furthermore, he has won the League MVP one time and also the Super Bowl MVP. He has been to five consecutive Pro Bowls and is one of the three QBs to have multiple 5000+ passing yards seasons and he did that in his 5th year as a starter.
The future Hall of Famer has almost locked his second NFL MVP honor. However, his focus now would be on winning the second Super Bowl ring in his career. The Chiefs have the No.1 seed and patiently waiting for their next opponent in the divisional round.
