Who’s better the war of words is on- Cooper Kupp or Justin Jefferson?

Justin Jefferson Cooper Kupp

Cooper Kupp quietly had one of the most historic seasons as a wide receiver in the NFL as he became only the 4th wide receiver in the modern era to win a triple crown ( a person who leads the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns within a particular season), with Jerry Rice, Sterling Sharpe and Steve Smith Sr. being the other. He even added a Super Bowl win and a Super Bowl MVP to cap a spectacular season. He was the best receiver in the game not according to everyone.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson gave Kupp his props but believes he can do more than Kupp and is better than Kupp and per Jefferson Las Vegas Raiders new signing Davante Adams is the best wide receiver in the game and Jefferson aims to overtake Adams at the end of this season. He added “Coop is good, but I’ll say he’s behind me.”

“I respect his opinion and I can also respectfully disagree,” said Cooper Kupp on Justin Jefferson

Cooper Kupp didn’t seem to agree with Jefferson’s claim. Per NFL.com, Kupp replied“I respect his opinion and I can also respectfully disagree. I would hope he would say that, I think that’s the beauty of this game. I think it speaks to the competitiveness of this league. If you’re not putting yourself as the best and you’re not working to be the best, then I’d be concerned about stepping on the field with you if you don’t feel like you’ve prepared to be the best player that you can be.”

Both sides have a fair argument to make as Jefferson who will enter his 3rd year in the league is a two time Pro Bowl selections and previously held the rookie record for most receiving yards since broken by his LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase of the Bengals, Jefferson has stellar stats through his 2 seasons with 196 catches, 17 touchdowns and 3,016 yards.

While last season was Kupp’s 1st Pro Bowl in 5 seasons what a season it was as Kupp not only won the triple crown, Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP but also produced single-season reception and yardage numbers that were each second-best in NFL history, and he became only the 4th player to ever have 100-plus catches, 1,500-plus yards and 15-plus TDs, according to NFL Research. The other three — Jerry Rice (1995), Marvin Harrison (2001) and Randy Moss (2003) — are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

As the season opener comes closer the NFL and its fans are eagerly waiting to see who proves to be the best among these two and the best all over with Raiders Davante Adams, Kupp, Jefferson, Bills Stefon Diggs and others in fray.
